Dear ISHA members, there are only 28 days left until the Seminar in Mostar. We hope you're excited as we are! 😊 ___ We found some interesting facts about Mostar - did you know that the Old bridge in Mostar is inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List? ➡️ “The historic town of Mostar, spanning a deep valley of the Neretva River, developed in the 15th and 16th centuries as an Ottoman frontier town and during the Austro-Hungarian period in the 19th and 20th centuries. Mostar has long been known for its old Turkish houses and Old Bridge, Stari Most, after which it is named. In the 1990s conflict, however, most of the historic town and the Old Bridge, designed by the renowned architect Sinan, was destroyed. The Old Bridge was recently rebuilt and many of the edifices in the Old Town have been restored or rebuilt with the contribution of an international scientific committee established by UNESCO. The Old Bridge area, with its pre-Ottoman, eastern Ottoman, Mediterranean and western European architectural features, is an outstanding example of a multicultural urban settlement. The reconstructed Old Bridge and Old City of Mostar is a symbol of reconciliation, international co-operation and of the coexistence of diverse cultural, ethnic and religious communities." On the 4th of January 2020 the Handover meeting was held in Zagreb. The old Officials gave a lot of advice to the new Officials and a lot of things were discussed for the future of ISHA. What a day! The 1st of February – Rijeka as the European Capital of Culture and Brexit! Today is a very big day, not only for our city Rijeka but for the world as well. Today was the opening ceremony of Rijeka as the European Capital of Culture and for today there is a “a rich full-day cultural and entertainment programme in Rijeka, involving a large number of organizers and participants, as well as the central ceremony in the evening, the Opera Industriale in the Rijeka Port“. The central opening ceremony took place in the Rijeka Port, a space that represents a strong point of identity for Rijeka. About 60 cities such as Florence, Stockholm, Marseille, Liverpool, Helsinki, Athens, Luxembourg, Dublin etc. had already this title. ______________ On the other side of Europe there is Brexit happening – The UK officially left the European Union, ending 47 years of membership, making this day, historically seen, as very important. “Most EU laws will continue to be in force – including the free movement of people – until the end of December, by which time the UK aims to have reached a permanent free trade agreement with the EU.” . . . #isha #students #rijeka #rijeka2020 #rijekaeuropeancapitalofculture2020 #europeancapitofculture #history #brexit #england #eu @rijeka2020 @visitrijeka

Riječki interdisciplinarni kongres na našem fakultetu kojeg je organizirao Studentski zbor Filozofskog fakulteta u Rijeci i na kojem su mnogi, javnosti poznati održali svoja predavanja.
